The library provides legal information services to Santa Cruz County residents, lawyers, judges and government officials. We developed this site to promote our user-friendly little library and to remind all of our friends out there in the wired world that we're here, so stop in and see us when you're in town.

This page tells you a little bit about our history, introduces you to the library staff and Board of Trustees, tells you what our hours are and how to find us, describes the collection and special services, links you to our on-line catalog, and provides you with copies of various library policies. We also explain our funding sources and gratefully acknowledge our donors and volunteers.

Be sure to visit our "The Courts" section and learn about the history of our local bench and courthouse. Photo portraits and biographies of Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judges are featured. This practice of putting up photos of various judges started out years ago as seemingly proper law library decor, with a bit of humor as in "Where do you plan to hang the judges?" Over the years the gallery has developed into an attractive and useful library collection. To view biographies of individual jurists here on the web, simply double click on their image. If you are looking for a guide to our local Federal Bench, you won't find it here.

The Resource Guide is a highly selective list of Santa Cruz County legal organizations, local court rules and municipal and county codes.
